Family Camping Trip

We went camping for 2 nights, 3 days at the end of June, we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon

Here we are with the car loaded.  It was SO packed, everyone had to carry stuff and no one could move much, luckily it was a short ride!

Ty loved cruising around camp on his strider

The slingshot was a big hit, here is Scott

Austin (Kate also shot, but isn't pictured)

Jeff--they were all trying to knock down red paper cups that were about 25 feet away on a big boulder

We went on a hike up at Silver Lake.  As an activity, the kids each made a walking stick.  They decorated with different colors of duct tape and they were a favorite tool all weekend! Jeff, Austin, Scott, Kate

The kids all loved trying to climb to the top of this rock

Scott, Austin, and Kate--they all made it to the top!

The hike was a highlight, but we all just enjoyed hanging out at camp, exploring, and being together as a family.

Happy 1/2 Birthday Ty!

We are still continuing the tradition of skipping Ty's real birthday and celebrating it at his 6 month birthday so it isn't so close to Christmas.

Here is Ty digging into his cake early, caught red-handed!

Ty opening his present, he knows what this is all about!

For both of our birthdays, Grandma Lewis gave us tickets to The Little Mermaid at Hale Center Theater and we all went together.  They did such a good job!  What a fun girls' outing

2015 Fun Run

The Fun Run is one of the funnest activities of the year.  They really make it a party with music and a dj who knows how to party, blow up toys, and of course, the school mascot is out there.  Each grade takes a turn to run and the dj entertains everyone else while they are waiting and cheering the running grade on.

Scott before the race

Every year, Kate REALLY wants to do well.  She talks about it throughout the year a lot.  In kindergarten and first grade, she always got worn out quick and had a hard time finishing strong, finishing in the bottom half for sure. This year, she asked me to run with her.  We started out at a slower pace than everybody, Kate was wanting to run fast like everyone else, but we kept that pace.  After the first corner, we still kept that pace and started passing tons of people.  About 3/4 of the way through the race, Kate started getting really tired.  She was ready to walk and was also discouraged because she thought she wouldn't do well enough in the race to place at all.  We kept jogging though.  We realized she would be in third place (top 3 get ribbons) if we could just pass one more girl.  That Kate turned on the speed and passed the girl, finished strong and got third place!  We were both so excited!  Such an accomplishment and something she has been wanting for so long!

Here we are after the race.

Scott and Austin getting ready for their very first fun run.

Scott about halfway through, he kept up running most of the race and finished within the first half of the kids.

Austin at the first half, stayed right with Scott the whole race.

Kate high fiving Austin

They announced the top 3 girls and boys for each grade, Jaslene, Kassidy, and Kate, then Christian, someone, and Spencer

All of the kids that placed in the whole school

This was one happy girl and we were sure proud of her!
