Kate gets Principal's Pride!!

We were so proud of our girl.  After working SO hard all year and being VERY patient until her turn came around, Kate got Principal's Pride.

Happy Birthday Austin and Scott

We celebrated these 2 cute boys' 6th birthday.  They are 2 special boys!

We started the festivities the night before their birthday.  Austin got to choose his favorite meal--breakfast for dinner.  We did French Toast and cheesy eggs.  Then we all went around and said something we like about Austin, or a favorite memory.

Later that night, Scott came down with a fever, poor bud, and there were some tears when he realized he wouldn't be able to go to school the next day for his birthday.

On the day of their birthday, both boys requested breakfast in bed and especially poppy seed muffins.

Scott was still sleeping and was really tired, but here is Austin with his yummy breakfast.

We let Austin and Scott open their presents that morning, Austin was very excited!

Scott feeling a little under the weather, but trying to get with it!

So excited for some birthday money!

Scott and Austin reading books, then watching some tv.

These 2 are such buddies, they play together all day every day and I can't remember seeing them fight (they don't always agree, though)  They just love each other.

A few recent things:
Scott at dinner time says, "Guess what my favorite thing in the whole wide world is."  Mom guesses family.  Scott says, no, that's second.  Soda pop is first.

Scott says, "What if my name was Mr.Mrs.?
Austin replies, "Yeah, then you would be a boy, but have long hair!"

At a BYU game, the 3 older kids had to go to the bathroom.  In the bathroom, Austin saw the urinal, and concerned, said, "Uh oh, we can't use the toilet, it doesn't have any batteries."

Both love their siblings and love to play with them so much

Austin:
Favorite Color:  Red
Favorite Candy: Chocolate
Favorite Movie: Rescue Bots
-Still dances like a crazy man
-Has lots of energy--talks quickly, jumps around and gets excited and enthusiastic about a lot
-LOVES to read and is reading really well, about a 2nd grade level
-Likes to play with Jaxon, Grant, Thomas, Lindi, Cini, and Austin Birdsall

Scott:
Favorite Color:  Blue
Favorite Candy: Cake
Favorite Movie: Rescue Bots
-Also enjoys reading and is also about a 2nd grade level
-Is definitely more laid-back than Austin
-Asks so many questions about everything (one of my favorite formats is What is the________ in the whole wide world?)
-Is learning to say his R's
-Likes to play with Jaxon, Grant, Thomas, Lindi, Cini, and Austin Birdsall

We are so blessed to have these 2 great boys in our life.  They have such cute personalities and add so much to our life!

Mildest Winter Ever

I've said it so many times this year, but this has been the most mild winter I ever remember.  We have only had one snowfall all year--and that was only a few inches.  We are frequently in the 50's, last week it was 55!  The kids have loved it and we try to get outside some (although Ty wishes it was a lot more)

Kate and I read together on our bench.  She has been loving Roald Dahl books, her latest 2 favorites were Matilda and the BFG.

Little Buddy

I had to document a few things this funny boy has been up to.

You can constantly find him walking around the house wearing his favorite "blankie" like this.  The other day he ran into the desk edge that you see there pretty hard, I haven't seen Ty walking around like this since.

Ty loves trucks, cars, tractors and anything with wheels.

Ty loves wearing this BYU hat around and also loves everything BYU.  When he sees the Y, he starts singing the BYU fight song--especially the Ra Ra part.

After watching  enough times, Ty decided to try his hand at applying some mascara, he actually got some on his eyelashes.  (Not pictured:  The black spots all over the bathmat)

Ty loves carrying a stool all over the house.  We have 4 different stools for various rooms, so Ty almost always has one.

...and uses them to reach anything and everything.  These stools have really helped him wreak some havoc around the house.

Ty is also starting to talk like crazy.  My favorite is, "Ow, that hurt" which is said with a lot of feeling. He is getting good at repeating many things.  He jabbers constantly, and if you listen close, you hear lots of words, it's fun.

At dinner time, mom tries to sneak and get the croutons out, but inevitably, Ty hears that unmistakable crinkle sound, turns around and says, "Mom?" and gets his crouton.

He still is loving getting in toilets (we are worried he flushed something down one of them, so that is off limits for now), he loves sucking on everyone's toothbrush that is left out, pushing the buttons on the washer and dryer, playing with everything found under bathroom sinks, but especially, chasing after his older siblings.  We sure love this little buddy, even if he keeps us running!

Sledding

We went up the canyon sledding on Saturday.  The older kids were so excited and loved it.  It was Ty's first time going, he liked it but wasn't 100% on board.

Ryan and Emma came too.  Kate, Emma, Scott, Austin (in the monster hat)

The entire day, Ty kept taking his gloves off and throwing them, and we kept putting them back on.  This pretty much guaranteed that this would be Ty's only time going sledding this year.

It was an entertaining day for all!

Haircut

Lately, almost everybody is struggling with telling these 2 boys apart, hopefully this helps!
(Austin, Scott)
For the record, Scott hates it and thinks he looks bald.  He has told me many times not to cut it so short next time.
