Gardening for Dummies

We planted our garden a couple of weeks ago. First, we dumped manure all over, then Jeff tilled it in, then we planted (I did help--I wasn't just taking pictures the whole time :) )

On the left is our three year old asparagus and we actually got to eat it this year--so good! Next comes 8 tomatoes, then 8 green peppers, 4 Anaheim Peppers, 2 little rows of green beans, 4 jalapenos, honeydew, cantelope from start and one from seed, squash zucchini, pumpkin, to the raspberries on the end. We also planted some lettuce in the flowers (no room in the garden). I would call us regular old farmers except for the fact that the cantelope start is dead, the pumpkins and zucchini haven't come up, the honeydew isn't looking hot and it looks like we have a rabbit in the lettuce.

The Catheter for Those of us with Weak Bladders

When is the last time you had an "accident"? Mine was tonight and every Wednesday night for the last little while. I wouldn't call it a complete "accident," just partial. The cause is a soccer game. When I was younger, if I laughed too hard, I lost it, and after I had Kate, sports have started to get to me. I have been thinking for some time to get a portable catheter and just carry the bag in my purse, but what to do with the bag during the soccer game is really a problem. Oh my gosh--I am going to invent this! I will design it so that you can wear the bag as a belt around your waste and the liquid will spread evenly around your waste (which will be nice for a cold night) and I am also going to make an alternate design like a camelbak. It would save a lot of trouble and time--nobody likes to take time out of their busy day to go to the bathroom and I am going to call it...The Catheter for Those of us with Weak Bladders. If any of you have a nice name suggestion, I will gladly take it.

Playing in the Pool

I love summer. It is so great, so busy and so much to do with a 1 year old! I love it. We got this little kiddie pool last year and we had such a good time--Kate splashing, and me putting my feet in!

A day at Wheeler Farm

On Friday, we went to a farm with Staci, Tyler, and Peyton. We had the best time! Even though we never had a farm growing up, I felt right at home. Kate absolutely loved it too--she loved looking at the and touching the animals and especially loved being with her cousins. When they bleated right in her face, that made her a little nervous, but it was so much fun! We will definitely be regulars, so if anyone wants to go, give us a call!

There is an old wagon there, and Kate and Tyler had a great time playing in it!
Tyler is so sweet to Kate!
Kate loved petting the animals. These animals were really friendly.

What kind of cow is that on the right? I forgot the name and it has been bugging me.
I have a fondness for pigs since my little sister started raising them for 4-H. I think they are kind of cute. (And I know it looks like I am posing and I have no response...)
The little lamb was bleating in Kate's face--made her a little nervous!

Part Time Walker

Traumatic Times/Kind of a Funny Story

Last week I came into the bathroom to find Kate standing by the toilet, looking in, with a pleased look on her face. I looked in the toilet to see a little green, and realized she had thrown my phone in the toilet! (Luckily it had been flushed the last time it was used) I dried it out in the sun and it worked for about a week, but, alas, no more. I am so sad because I have to go back to my old phone--no more music, pictures, videos, or a phone from this century. It was a little bit funny though, I have to admit. It was one of those things I had to try not to laugh at. Let's just say I am much more diligent at shutting the toilet lid!

Ode to Louie--Happy Birthday!

It is Jeff's birthday today! It's great to celebrate Jeff for many reasons, but I will just name a few. He makes us laugh. His unique way of saying things when he is describing something--usually when describing roads, sports, or something he is passionate about. His cute smile. His laugh, it always makes me laugh (especially the really loud one). That he is SUCH a great dad--Kate not only looks like him and has his personality, but she LOVES her daddy! That he is such a good husband--he got me a dozen roses even when my birthday present was supposed to count for anniversary! His lawn mowing capabilities--I have never seen a lawn more similar to Dodger Stadium! He is a great listener and is patient enough to listen to me talk about nothing in particular for hours on end. Bathes Kate almost every night (this sounds bad, but when I was in Idaho, I didn't bathe Kate once because I am so used to Jeff doing it! Thanks Jeff!) Oh--I almost forgot--the way he dances to a real girl power song, I have mentioned this before and will get it on video sometime if I can. All in all, Jeff is such a great guy, and we feel so lucky to have him as a husband and daddy! We love you Jeff and happy birthday!
