Joy School

We started Austin and Scott in a little joy school with a couple little girls in the neighborhood.  This month, the theme was animals.  Here they are with their animal masks from one week:  Ellie, Lily, Austin, Scott
The next week, we went to the zoo, the kids loved it! (Scott)
Good luck catching 4 small children in a good picture...

Kate in Fall Soccer

We signed Kate up for fall soccer and it was such a fun time.  We didn't coach this time, but we really lucked out on coaches, Kate learned a lot and had fun.  Kate was one of 2 girls on the team (12 total).  Kate really did well this season, she scored quite a few goals and would get right in there and play hard.  We had so much fun watching her and were so proud of how well she did!

And she had her own cheering section...

Inaugural Lewis Camping Trip

We've actually been camping many times as a family, but this was our first long camp out that we instigated and it felt like a first.  We had SUCH a great time.  We were sad to come home.  Scott especially.  I wish I had a picture, but when we told Scott we were going home that day, he cried and cried.  He wants to live in the mountains.

We also learned going camping after Labor Day is interesting--we were the only ones in the whole campsite.  It was kind of fun because we got to see some wildlife that we might not have gotten to otherwise.  Nights were a little spooky, but nothing we couldn't handle!

The first day, we went up to Silver Lake and hiked up to Solitude Lake.  This was a 1.25 mile hike each way and the kids walked the whole time.  It was pretty steep at points and I was getting tired myself.  We were so impressed with the kids, they were such great hikers, I still can't believe they hiked that whole way!

When we got to Solitude Lake, we broke out a little snack for the kids.  The chipmunks were not shy up there!  We even found a little beehive under a rock. (Austin, Scott, Kate)

We also did this little activity--threading candy necklaces.  It took a while, but the kids enjoyed them.
We also had some visitors come up one night--Jeff's parents, brothers, and a couple of their kids.  It was fun having some company come up for the night!

Kate stayed up late and was pretty tired by bed time!
We made some really yummy food.  We made pancakes one morning and Jeff made some YUMMY cheese/ham/pepper omelettes (I think those are Denver omelettes).  They were delicious.

We had such a great time.  The kids are such good little campers.  Kate and Scott didn't wake up once during the nights, and Austin just did when he was thirsty.  They loved riding their bikes all over the campground, playing with their shovels and trucks, eating lots of treats and just getting dirty.  Can't wait til the next one!

Kate's First Day

I just dropped Kate off for her first day of kindergarten.  It was very bittersweet, it's the beginning of my kids growing up and going to school, luckily it's only for a couple of hours!  It makes me nervous going from her primary caretaker to handing her off to someone else (luckily, Kate's teacher is amazing and I trust her 100%)

A lot of people have asked if Kate was nervous--I don't think she had a nervous bone in her body today.  She was so excited.  She woke up and ran out with her backpack, put it by the door, hurried and ate breakfast and went to school.  When it was time for me to go, she just waved happily, no tears, just so excited.  That made it easier.  There may have been a little tearing up on my side, but I'm going to say it was just the sun--what a bright morning!

Kate sure is our special girl, she is such a blessing in our family and we all just adore her.  We love you Katie Girl!!
