Quirks

When I think of quirks, I think of Jeff, and I love every one of them.
(These are the first two canteloupes we got out of the garden, we were so excited!!)
Sorry this took me forever to do! And I am going to write this about Jeff because his quirks are funnier than mine! I can't even think of any for myself! I am sure they are there, but I think they are normal. :)

The RULES
1. Link the person who tagged you...Sandy
2. Post these rules.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them: Alicia, Melissa, Karin, Michele, Marci, Jamie, Michele and I would write everyone's name on my list, so please anyone who wants to, do this because it is funny to read about other's quirks!

1. Jeff really likes to park in the shade, it doesn't matter if he has to walk a lot extra or across a completely empty parking lot, as long as when he comes back that car is in the shade.

2. When Jeff is sweating on his forehead, he wipes it with the side of his index finger--kind of like a windshield wiper. I don't see anyone else do that!

3. Jeff whistles at the most random times, here are some examples: While we are in the middle of a conversation--in person or on the phone(but he is still listening), while eating dinner, in the middle of a hymn and I have to say that the last is my favorite. We were in church and he started whistling the hymn--loudly! Wow, that was funny!

4. Jeff likes to have very straight lines in the lawn, you can always tell when I mowed, my lines are very off.

5. Jeff drinks A LOT of water. If he is getting sick especially, he will drink at least 64 oz for breakfast and I am not exaggerating. By the end of the day, he is sitting around 200 oz. On a normal day, maybe around 100-120.

6. When Jeff tells a story or talks about something he is really interested in, if you have heard him, you know what I am talking about. He gives ALL the details so there is no way you will misunderstand the story, miss the punchline, or get lost.

7. And I just thought of one more: Jeff does piles of clothes and drapes them all over the room--he has clothes that are clean in one pile, and clothes that are possibly dirty in another. He needs to wait until he has showered to smell these clothes to see if they are dirty or clean (he has a stronger sense of smell after getting out of the shower)

Salsa

We just made our first batch of salsa! It is the main reason for our garden--we grow the tomatoes, Bell Peppers, Chili Peppers, and Jalapenos and buy the rest from the store and make salsa. It turned out really good this year, it might be my favorite yet! Yum! (Please take note of our matching aprons. I love it!)

I should mention, neighbors gave us a lot of the tomatoes we used! The peppers were ready, but we only had about 10 tomatoes (on 8 plants).

Recent happenings

Our neighbors just gave us their old piano and we are SO excited! I have really been wanting one because I want to learn to play again--I took lessons when I was younger, then I quit, so I am just so excited! Kate loves it too
This is Kate's new thing--folding her arms all the time! It is pretty cute. She has a baby wipe on her head. I don't know why, but she liked it, maybe she was hot!
And I realized I did have a picture of the weekend. This is when we were watching the Olympics and just hanging out. Kate loves hanging out with Jeff!
This is a new toy we just got at a garage sale. I was really excited to find it, especially because it looked clean and they seemed like a clean family, so that made me feel good! Kate LOVES it! We set it up so she can do it herself. She uses the chair to climb on the bench, then she can go down the slide. It is fun to watch her do it!

Life is good. I can't believe summer is almost over! It has gone by so fast, but it has been such a fun summer. I have had so much fun with Kate. Her little personality is getting so funny! Some fun things Kate is saying/doing:

  • She points at every airplane that goes past (whether we are inside or outside) she loves them!
  • She loves to have her fingernails and toenails painted and clipped and sits pretty still when I do them! I am impressed
  • She is learning a lot of animal noises including dog, cat, lamb, and cow, it is pretty funny
  • She has been doing fives for a while, but recently learned "rocks" (when you hit fists) and I love it!
  • She loves to say hi to everyone. We will be at the grocery store and she says hi to everybody! The look on their faces is pretty funny!
  • She is finally getting some hair (you can tell in some of the recent pictures) and I just love it.
  • She started to do a cheeser smile just barely (you can see it on the piano)
  • She likes to play in the dirt and if a bug is in her path, watch out. She likes to pick it up--whether it is an ant or a ladybug--and loves to just look at it and play with it.
  • She still just loves kids, especially babies!
  • She is really starting to know what she wants and sometimes gets a little bossy, but overall is a very sweet little girl. I am glad she has an opinion! Those are the things I can think of off the top of my head, but we just love our girl and her fun personality!

Fun Weekend

Sadly,no pictures to document it. We started out Friday night at a cabin with Mike, Jaime, and Annie. It was SO nice! First Jaime and Mike made us such a good meal--you name it, it was there. Chicken Shish kebabs with peppers, onions, and pineapple (YUM), corn on the cob, strawberry salad (I need the recipe), french bread, and brownies for dessert. Sorry I don't cook like that Jeff. For us, a good meal is one of those, I just don't have the side dishes down yet. Anyway, it was so nice to relax, watch the Olympics, talk, and then to go four wheeling in the morning. (Jeff loved it, I was really nervous because we had Kate so we didn't last that long--had to say it because I knew Mike would call me on it) Thanks guys, it was so fun!

Then, on Saturday, we went to a water park--which I have been wanting to do all summer! We went with some friends from our ward and had a great time. We went last year and Kate didn't want to do much--she was only about 5 months, so this year, it was fun because she just loved it! She was squealing down the slides and splashing in the water. It was so much fun! It was a great weekend, I don't know if we can beat it.

Fountains at the Mall

We met some friends down at the Mall Saturday and decided to take Kate to the fountains there. It was so hot, so it felt so good! She wasn't too sure, but I think she had fun.

Kate was more of a sideline watcher. She couldn't figure out what was going on for a little bit!

Best Picture Ever! I love it!

Flag Football Champions

Last Saturday (the 2nd), Jeff's old high school had its first Alumni Flag Football Tournament. Of course, Jeff and his friends all put together a team and they all played really well! Such chemistry has never been seen before.

Of course, there was not a smile all day long, this was serious business.
Bryant kicking a field goal (which was good by the way)
And finally, with the win, they all can relax a little bit.
They won first place out of the 2010-1998 years! Pretty impressive that the old guys win!
Good job!

The White Alligator

We returned to the Zoo last weekend and got some pictures of the White Alligator just for you Brenda! He just lays there in the exact same position. He must be happy.

The Teenage Giraffe
The tiger was so big!
It was a fun day at the zoo, but very hot! I think we will be taking a break from it for at least a month!

Fast Summer

This summer has gone so fast. I can't believe it is almost over! Kate always loves to be outside. This is from about a week ago in the backyard. Good times.

Kate is trying to blow up her pool.
