Blowing out the Candles

We all sang happy birthday, but listen right after and you can hear Emma say Happy Birthday to you, so cute!

Happy Birthday Kate!

Kate turned 1 yesterday! I can't believe we have had Kate for a year! She has brought so much happiness to us and we love her so much! These are some pictures from the birthday yesterday.

This is her birthday dress (I love it!) that Kate wore to church.

We had a family party for Kate and Ryan and Malece came over, Alon and Margaret and Drostan! It was fun to see him and a big surprise too!
Time for birthday cake (yellow cake with pudding in the middle and chocolate frosting on top--yum--it is Kate's favorite)
Actually, Kate didn't love the cake. I think she ate all of the chocolate first so maybe she got sick.
All in all, it was a fun day. We are so grateful for our Katie girl and we love her so much!

President Richard Q Simmons

Thank you all you patriotic voters for voting Richard Simmons to be our next President. It was a narrow margin (he only beat John McCain by one vote) so just know that YOUR vote counted.

Adorable new shoes and funny outfit

I realized I have done 50 posts! That is cool (this is #51). I just had to show these pictures of Kate's new shoes that I am in love with (I wish they had them in my size so we could be twins!).

And this is the outfit I had her in today. I just thought it looked so funny. The pockets look like I have it on backwards, but then the straps look right and they cross in the back. I don't know, but Kate looks pretty funny in it. It reminds me of those pants Aladdin wears.

Cute Outfit

I have been so excited to put Kate in this outfit since we got it before she was born (thanks Jamie!) I had to show the pictures because they were so cute!

A few steps

Kate is getting closer to walking. She is taking 1-2 steps (then quickly grabbing on the table). It is pretty fun!

Pleased as Punch

Well, I think I mentioned that Kate started getting up 2-3 times a night again a little while ago, and we were not very happy about it! Anyway, we finally let her cry during the night instead of getting up with her (thanks Audrey) and the results have been beautiful!
First night: A lot of crying and not a lot of sleep for us either
Second night: Slept till 5:30 without a sound
Third night: Slept till 6:40 without a sound
Last night: Slept till 7:15 without a sound
Kate seems happier during the day and is eating more and better (probably because she knows she needs to get it during the day) and I love it!

Big Girl

Kate is starting to drink out of a sippy cup. We are in the weaning process, which is exciting and kind of crazy because Kate isn't going to be a baby much longer!

Kate also loves chapstick, this worked out until she found out how to get the lid off. The funniest was when she got ahold of Jeff's lip balm in a carmex-like container. Kate figured out how to get the lid off and Jeff had some major divets. This was even funnier because for those of you who know Jeff, he likes to wear it evenly (same philosophy on ice cream)

Where's Waldo

Well, our Where's Waldo activity was last night and it was pretty funny! I was going to go with the janitor thing, but I couldn't find an appropriate outfit that a janitor would where. I want to do that next year, so now I have a whole year to come up with the outfit!

My original idea was to just sit somewhere and read my book.

I did a really awkward walk all night. My pants were pulled up to an uncomfortable height and it just looked really attractive.
These were the four female leaders that dressed up. When we walked into the mall, we got some looks! We were a very unlikely group!

This is everybody that dressed up. On the left is our bishop, in the back middle is our second counselor, back right is first counselor, and front right is one of the young women's dads. We had a great time and I am looking forward to next year!

Bathtub and playing on Sunday

I realized I haven't posted any recent pictures of Kate for a while, so here are a few. Kate is sharing in this picture, she is getting so good at sharing and she loves bath time with daddy!
This is us playing yesterday. It is getting so hard to take any pictures of Kate because she is always coming at me trying to get the camera!

Kate playing with daddy.
Kate has a funny face in this one, but I have been trying to catch this stance of Kate's for a while. She always perches like this. It looks so funny to me.
Kate hasn't been very interested in walking, but yesterday, she started walking along the couch--just leaning against it with no hands! We were pretty surprised!
