For years, Mom and Dad have talked about moving to a more rural area. With the onset of Covid, Dad started working remotely and realized that he could work remotely most of the time. We decided that this was our chance. We drove down, with the idea to buy a house or lot in Salem, Utah (south of Spanish Fork). On a whim, we decided to look at these lots in Mapleton as well. They were 1/3 acre lots--a little smaller than we were looking for, so we dismissed them pretty quickly. After a couple more weeks of looking, we decided to revisit these lots. We had loved the feel of Mapleton and decided to start moving forward with Lot 10. We made an offer in August, closed in September, and the hole was dug in late November/early December.
We came down and visited often. There is a parkway right by the lot and on a fall day, we took scooters and rode the parkway.
We fell in love with the views, the mountains, and the more rural feel.
We "broke ground" in early November.
A week or so later, they finished digging out the hole.
We come down and visit often (usually on Sundays). Here is Ty in our hole
They got the footings poured.
Then eventually the walls were poured.
The concrete floor was poured (on one of the few days it snowed this year)
We were so excited (and scared) to move in on Memorial day weekend 2021
