Legoland

We went to Legoland a few years ago.  The kids loved it so much that they begged to come back.  All of the kids enjoy legos, so that made it fun.

We loved our day at Legoland!

The Mormon Battalion

We arrived in San Diego on a Sunday, so we wanted to do an activity that was Sunday related.  With that in mind, we visited the Mormon Battalion site.

Addie and Ellie rode in our car for a couple of hours before we got to San Diego.

This covered wagon is outside of the Mormon Battalion.  The Mormon Battalion is located in old town San Diego.

Scott got to help by dressing up as one of the Mormon Battalion soldiers.

This tree is in another part of old town San Diego.  We walked all around this area after seeing the Mormon Battalion.  In the bottom corner of this picture, you can see an old mission church (Catholic I think).

It was interesting to learn more about the Mormon Battalion!

Zion National Park

Zion National Park has always been a family favorite.  As part of our trip, we spent two nights in St. George.  One day was spent at Zions National Park.  

This deer must be used to having people around.  It stood and ate there for a good 20 minutes with many people around.

We always love the shuttle bus that goes up and down Zion National Park.  It was fun to be on it together.

Austin

We were disappointed when we first got there to find out that Angel's Landing and some other favorite hikes were closed.  However, later in the morning, we heard that it was just opened, so we headed there.  Angel's Landing is a fairly long hike as well as a somewhat difficult hike.  For the last half mile of the hike, there are cliffs on the side of the trail.  At one point, the trail is only about 18 inches wide with sheer dropoffs on each side.  Before this half mile portion, there is a place that is comfortable to sit.  Melissa and Zac took their kids while we watched their little ones, then we switched.

Angel's Landing

This was about halfway--maybe a little more.  There were switchbacks for a long time up this hill.

For the last half mile, Dad, Mom, Kate, and Austin hiked the more treacherous part.  Scott had worn flip flops, so he couldn't come.  There were chains the entire way to hold onto.  Mom got too nervous watching the kids hike this trail, so for the good of everybody, went back.  Dad, Kate, and Austin trekked on.

They made it!  Here they are at the top of Angel's Landing.  Kate and Austin both said it wasn't that scary.  They loved it!

We love Zion, the beautiful views, and the chance to make our hearts pound so we know we are alive!
