Desert on Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving break was so nice that we all went to the desert.  Jason and Sheri and family were in town, Rick and Kyle came out, Grandma and Grandpa and our family.  It was a really gorgeous fun day!

One of the highlights for the kids was digging two big holes and connecting them through a tunnel.

Another major highlight is going on a ride on the dirtbike Dad was borrowing from a friend.  All of the kids (except Logan) and mom took a ride.  Here is Kate with Dad.

Ty and Finley had a fun time playing together all day!

Logan bonked his head and Grandpa was making him feel better.

We had a great time at the dessert.  Not pictured:  Many slammo games played, and probably the favorite for the kids was Kyle's dirt bike.  All of the kids (Austin and older) loved taking turns on it.  There was even a jump that Scott went off of pretty fast and crashed (and was just fine much to Mom's relief).

Getting ready for Christmas

Well, we broke the rules this year and set up for Christmas the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving.  (Note to self:  That is TOO early!!)

We made some homemade ornaments.  This one it a miniature beanie, the three older kids loved making them.

They couldn't quite make it happen, Scott is getting pretty big!!

November Happenings

Scott participated in Reflections at school--he drew a picture and here he is getting his award (Austin also participated and is not pictured)

Scott in the back, Austin, Ty, then Dad all at a BYU football game.

This is a very common sight in the house--monkey in the middle.  Kate and Austin playing catch on the edges, Dad and Ty in the middle trying to get the ball.

Logan loves to wake Ty up in the morning, and surprisingly, Ty doesn't mind.  These 2 boys💓

Scott decided he was ready to get a new bike, he bought this one with his own money (Mom and Dad paid half).  He has been loving it!

When Scott came home with this new spiffy bike, Austin decided to try his luck at DI.  Somehow, he found this awesome bike that was actually pretty similar to Scott's brand new one.  This has happened both times Austin wanted a new bike at DI!

Logan loves play kitchen and Kate was a willing participant.  It's hard to say no to Logan.

Family movie night, everyone has their own popcorn bowls. (Scott on the couch)

Logan loves Daddy.

And Kate.  And everybody,  Logan enjoys being the youngest!

Irritating Creature

For school, Kate had to memorize and recite this poem.  They had the option to bring a sibling as a prop for the "irritating creature."  It was pretty cute!

There's an irritating creature in my living room today,
it's been here for a year now, and it will not go away.
The first time that I saw it, it was in my easy chair,
and displayed no inclination to forsake its station there.

I put it in a parcel, and I left it at the store,
the thing was there to greet me when I opened up my door,
I took it to the forest, and I tied it to a tree,
I found it in my kitchen having sandwiches and tea.

I packed it in a carton to disguise its size and shape,
I wrapped it and I stamped it and I sealed it shut with tape,
I mailed it to the middle of a mountain in Tibet,
I returned to see it sitting on my brand-new TV set.

I concealed it in a rocket that was bound for outer space,
it was back that very evening with a smile upon its face.
It appears I can't evict it, though I truly wish I could,
it's entirely too tenacious - I suspect it's here for good.
