Still no camera

Well, like I mentioned in the previous post, still no camera! We are thinking of just getting a new one. Any suggestions for a good but inexpensive camera? Things are going good here. We are just getting into the swing of fall which means BYU on most weekends and just enjoying the perfect weather. Kate has come to the last couple games and does so good. I think she has a good time! I am starting to get excited for the good tv shows to come back on (I have turned into somewhat of a tubehead in the last couple years). I am most excited for:
The Office
Samantha Who
Chuck
I am also starting to get ready to do some projects--sewing or scrapbooking or just any craft. That is always how I am in the winter. Also I need some new books to read. Has anyone read any good reads lately?

So, 2 questions to answer from this post
1. Any suggestions for a good but inexpensive camera?
2. Any suggestions for a good book?

Inexpensive camera... idk. I don't love my Kodak but I know others who do. Good book: The Host by Stephenie Meyer.

Looks like your Washington trip was so fun. I don't know how you can survive without a camera for so long! How inexpensive are we talking....I could talk cameras all day long. Also, I just started "The Great and Terrible" series. I am in love with them. I didn't love the first one as much, but the second one totally got me hooked. It was great!

K, here's my input: I LOVE my camera! It's a Canon Powershot...the A520 to be exact. It's a 4 megapixel, but personally I want the next best thing (my sis has it)--> It's also a Powershot, but its a 6 megapixel, I think. Very good cameras and very user friendly! The good news is you can get a really nice camera for pretty cheap...prices have gone down a ton since I got mine. My mom also has a Powershot and she really likes it too.

so canon and olympus are the best camera brands there are. i agree with sara on loving my canon! i have a powershot sd750 canon elph with 7.1 mega pixels. and i love it! from a little research... i can't really find my exact one (it must just be upgraded by now), i got mine for christmas last year. but there are some very similar ones that are like 8 mega pixels and they are under $200 and under. there are quite a few of them at walmart... you have 30 days i think. plus, i'm not sure if you have a costco nearby because thats where i got mine. anywho... that is my suggestion.

The screen on our camera just started fading out this week and acting up! I just told Sheri today that I guess I know what Drostan and I are getting for our joint-and-only Christmas present! We've had this one for 3 1/2 years, so I guess I can't be too sad. It's probably time because ours is pretty old and outdated. I don't have suggestions, but I'll watch your comments to see what people suggest, so we can get a good one, too. Also, my mom said that The Book Thief by Zusak(?) was good. I only got about 30 pages into it before it was due at the library again and someone had requested it. It was good. I just had no time to read it! I'll have to finish it another time.

Good camera:
Love my Canon Powershot. Adam did all the research and bought it for me a couple years ago. It's great, but I don't know how pricey they are these days...
Good books:
The Host, Stephenie Meyer
The Long Walk, Slavomir Rawicz -(intense and incredible)
The Sunflower, Richard Paul Evans

Hey Julie!

Mom is here and she was wondering if you will make it so she gets an email each time you update. Just go to settings -> email -> type in mom's email d@dianepacker.com.

Hooray for The Office starting back up!!!

I have a Canon Powershot too and it's awesome. They're the best cameras in my opinion. You should go to consumersearch.com for more ideas though - they have the most comprehensive and unbiased views out there. Then go to pricegrabber.com to find the cheapest place to buy what you want. GREAT websites. As far as books go... If you're up for a really amazing, inspirational, tear-jerking story read Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza. I also just started reading the book Wicked and it's pretty good. Let me know if you hear of any other good books.
As far as where Mike is... he's training right now in New Jersey b/c he's deploying to Central America in December for 6 months. It's really lame but we'll survive it I suppose. I'll be in Utah part of the time he's gone though and we should get together. I would have loved to have seen you while we were just there but we were so busy with family. We needed more time! Next time I hope we can get together. Go Cougars!

Hi Julie,

Brian and I love our Kodak Easyshare. It's just a point and shoot, but we have been very happy with it. Good luck!

Oops! Forgot the book. Atlas Shrugged is very good. It is also very long, but worth it. I am also now reading Anna Karenina. Both were suggested reading from Brian.

My last camera was a Canon Powershot and I loved it. It was very user friendly and took good pictures. I just got a new Sony Cybershot. I like it a lot as well. My little sister has a Kodak. Its really cute and little and for the most part takes good pictures, but occasionally its tempermental and only takes blurry pictures :) I'm glad all the emails worked and that you liked the pictures :)

Our powershot worked well until Zachary dropped it (and broke it). Now it eats a pair of batteries everytime we use it. It takes good pictures though. We will probably replace it with another powershot. As for a book a great science fiction is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Unlike many science fiction novels this one is not full of details about the world but spends most of the time on the characters and the story.
