Kauai Day 2

On Day 2, we slept in a little bit and walked on the beach in the morning. We drove down to Poipu Beach for some snorkeling.  We snorkeled for a couple hours and saw tons of colorful tropical fish.  It was a great snorkel spot. (See videos, we didn't take pictures)

After snorkeling, we drove to the Costco in Lihue for some lunch (same prices as the mainland!).  Great cheap lunch option.  After Costco, Jeff wanted to get some souvenirs at WalMart (Julie objected but realized that souvenirs were important, so she relented).

After Walmart we took Hwy 583 north a few miles to Wailua Falls.  It is just an overlook spot for a 150-160’ waterfall, which is very impressive.  But we hopped the concrete barrier and navigated the mud and vegetation down to the pool below.  It was awesome!!!

We swam in the pool below at the base of the falls.  This time we both swam.  It was spectacular--another bucket list.  It was so peaceful and rejuvenating.  Then we hiked back up the road and the overlook.

Mom didn't have a swimsuit so had to resort to the sports bra and underwear

Jeff went and swam around the waterfall

Then we bypassed the fence above the parking area to access the stream at the top of the waterfall.  This was awesome because it offered us a spectacular but scary view from the top. (This is at the top of the same waterfall)

It was very high and for real pretty terrifying (in Julie's opinion)

We went to a blowhole too, it was pretty cool

Then we went back to the resort to get cleaned up.  We headed a few miles north where we had dinner reservations at the Hukilau Lanai at the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy.  We had the best table in the open-air restaurant that overlooked the flower garden area.  It was spectacular.  The food was spectacular.  The food was fresh and delicious.  We loved the experience completely.

(Yes, that is the ocean in the back)
